The Glen Cameron Group has signed a five-year contract with global gas giant Air Liquide.

Finalised earlier this month, the account represents the biggest on the books for the road transport company.

It is understood the contract incorporates the purchase of over 140 pieces of motorised and trailing equipment and also constitutes several industry firsts for the Glen Cameron Group, by taking its national operations into Port Kembla and as far as North Queensland.

New Group CEO, Nick Capp, confirmed that Scania, Volvo and Isuzu commercial vehicles had been delivered to service over 18 depots across sites in Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland where bulk and packaged gases are being delivered to various industries such as food manufacturers and hospitals on tankers, single-trailers, rigids and B-doubles.

Capp, who has 25 years of experience in logistics and road transport, comes to Glen Cameron Group after holding senior positions at Linfox, Telstra and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

His most substantial role was at Linfox as part of its Executive Leadership team in the role of President Retail overseeing retail operations across ten countries with 6,000 staff. He was appointed to the newly created Group CEO position at Glen Cameron Group in July.

As part of its commitment to Air Liquide, the company’s first foray into dangerous goods account, Capp told Prime Mover that the Glen Cameron Group had made significant investments in training and safety. “The Air Liquide business is a highly skilled environment,” he said. “As part of the contract we conduct and maintain a very comprehensive theory and practical training program in partnership with Air Liquide,” said Capp.

He added, “Our strengths in safety and compliance come to the fore in our Air Liquide operations.” Capp said his arrival coincides with an opportunity to sponsor a number of impending technology improvements and upgrades that have commenced rollout across Glen Cameron Group operations.

“The types of technologies demanded in this mobile, information rich environment we live in today will enhance our services. I look forward to leading the Glen Cameron Group through its next stages of growth and development,” he said.

Capp said he has always held Glen Cameron and the business in high regard.

“It is a company highly respected across the industry by customers, suppliers and competitors alike,” he said. Glen Cameron Group Managing Director, Glen Cameron, said he was thrilled to have Capp join the team.

“Nick is a dynamic individual who has fitted in well during his first three months at the company and I’m excited to see how he helps steer the business through its next phase of growth.”

“Air Liquide is a prestigious account that we’re delighted to have won. It’s an association we’re excited about developing into an ongoing mutually meaningful and beneficial partnership.”
